The restaurant, bar and café *Pipi’s* serves as a meeting point for visitors as well as inhabitants of São Filipe. African ambience and dishes, african music and sometimes live performance by local artists. The view from the terrace over the roofs of the city towards the island of Brava is marvellous, especially at sunset.



Compared to the market behind townhall, life is very calm at the *sucupira,* the clothing market.



	The Casa da Memoria was founded and is run by Monique Widmer. It is not only a museum on the history of São Filipe (open Wed, Thu, Fri 10.00 - 12.00 a.m.), but a place, where people become familiar with its history in a very vivid way.




			The catholic church of the Bila Baxo

		A *private cemetery* on the other side of the valley. It was founded by four rich local families.



In the afternoon the city is crowded by students from the high school, the *liceu,* where uniforms are obligatory. As the liceu is the only highschool on Fogo, “school busses” carry the students all over the island.

Restaurants in the historic centre of São Filipe

At Pipi’s you get african and local dishes and even delicious lobster. Other recommendable restaurants are Seafood, Calerom, Casa Cinema, Churasceira Africana, Arco Iris, Cape Cod, Lua Negra e o Clube Tropical.

The local office of the Caboverdian airline TACV. Here you can reconfirm your domestic flights, change the time of departure, if you want to stay a little bit longer, or make sure that your flight will indeed depart. Between December and March it may happen that there is so much dust in the air that flights must be cancelled due to the weather conditions.This phenomenon is called bruma secca.

Nearby you will find the office of the shipping company Agenamar, where you can find out the latest news about the ferryboat connections to Brava or Praia.

The nightlife of São Filipe

Often you can listen to live music by a local band on Saturdays at the Tropical (beginning 11.00 p.m.).

And finally there is Cabozouk and Funana at the discotheque Venus till early morning.
